Tracy might be dragging me to the bar to watch tonight’s Wings game and “socialize” with so-called “people.” The only problem is that since I’ve started live-blogging the games, the Wings haven’t lost.
So, in a relatively transparent effort to please the hockey gods, here goes my “All Purpose Wings-Ducks Game 1 Live Blog.” It should see us through us through anything that comes up tonight.
LET’S GO RED WINGS! 8 down. 8 to go. Sixty full minutes!
Nice save by the Dominator. Now, it’s up to the defense to kill off this penalty.
Look at that! An octopus on the ice!
Gotta get something going on the power play. Want to set the tone for the rest of the series.
Wow! Hit of the game by Dan Cleary! (Yes, I feel confident writing that in advance.)
OK, Wings fans, we have to power them through this rough spot! ON YOUR FEET! (Notice that I didn’t imply there the Ducks would actually score tonight.)
Lessee… Am I forgetting anything? Sixty full minutes? Check. On your feet, Wings fans? Check.
Oh, I’ll close with one story. I remember in 2002, when Steve Yzerman won the Cup on one good leg, Chris Pronger tried to clobberfy The Captain. The odds say that the bruising Pronger should have leveled Yzerman. Instead, Stevie bounced right off and Pronger was out of the series with a knee injury.
Now, Pronger got us back last year with Edmonton. So now we’re even.
But still, how scared of the guy should I really be? He couldn’t even check a one-legged goal-scorer without getting hurt.
LET’S GO WINGS!
