Tigers Magic Number down to 4

With today's 4-3 win over Toronto, the Tigers have trimmed their "magic number" to win the AL Central down to 4. Four combined Tigers wins or Twins losses and the title is theirs.

The Twins have to play almost perfect baseball the rest of the way to catch us.

Two big highlights from tonight's game. First, Placido Polanco had his first big game since returning to the lineup, driving in three. His presence at the top of the order will be absolutely vital in the post-season. With him, the Tigers were the best team in the bigs by a large margin. Without him, they went into a month-long struggle.

Also, Jeremy Bonderman had four strikeouts tonight to finish the season at precisely 200. It's the first time a Tigers pitcher hit the double-hundo since Jack Morris in 1987, the last time the team made the playoffs. Congrats to Bonderman.

Now that the pressure of making the playoffs is gone, the Tigers have been on a tear, winning 8 of their last 12 games. Plus, they have also pulled into a tie for best record in baseball and with it home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. I can't wait.
